"I mean, but, it makes me glad," he added, worried he sounded like he was stumbling over words and wishing he could somehow bring the confidence he felt while dealing with cards to any sort of personal conversation.

There was a pause before the mottled tom responded. "I'm...glad to hear that."

Misto's smile was faint and a little too relieved. "You are?" he asked softly and knew better than to push that issue at all but he just needed that assurance.

Cori's gaze dropped to his plat for a moment, before he looked at Mistoffelees again. "I am."

Misto's smile was something like the sun coming out from behind clouds, and it was a very relieved and radiant sun. "It's nice to be back," he said, voice soft.

Coricopat's lips quirked into a smile. "Good." He glanced at his watch. "I really ought to head to the Demoniaque for a couple of hours..."

Misto nodded, not actually much liking the sound of that, but there was hardly anything he could say against it. "Right of course." He paused for a very long moment. "Will you come back tonight?"

"I....do you want me to?"

"Yes," Misto said simply, and then, "Please."

Coricopat hesitated, nodding slightly before rising and placing his plate in the sink. "Alright, well I'll be back in a few hours then."

"Great," Misto murmured, rising as well and moving over to do the dishes, the key slipped into his pocket. "Good luck with your evening then," he said, running the water to start washing, leaning against the counter a bit more heavily than usual.

Cori studied him for a moment. "Try to get some rest, hm?" With that he slipped out of the house, locking the front door behind himself.

Misto smiled at him faintly as he left. "I will," he said. But he needed to get these dishes washed first. His ears flickered when he heard the sound of the door locking. Perhaps before he might have claimed it to be too paranoid but... at this point he wasn't sure anything was too paranoid. Finishing the dishes quickly, he limped over to the living room, laying himself along the couch, snagging another book on his way. Several chapters in, he ended up falling asleep on the couch.

Coricopat entered the house several hours later. He quietly locked the door behind him, glancing toward his bedroom, but heading into the living room first. He paused when he saw Mistoffelees stretched out on the couch. The mottled tom shook his head slightly, going over and picking the book up, gently, placing a bookmark in the place it was open to, and set it aside. The elder cat straightened and went over tot he bookshelf, withdrawing a book, and cursing softly as that actually pulled a second one out with it, sending the second one tumbling to the floor.

It was a bit of a shock that taking the book hadn't woken Mistoffelees, but the falling book and the curse certainly did, and shifted slightly he blinked awake, glancing over at the mottled tom. "Oh, hey," he said, and cleared his throat when his voice was too thick. He honestly should not have been as relieved as he was to see the other back, having not entirely dared to hope to believe him earlier.
