Munkustrap shrugged on his suit coat, making sure the lapels were laying evenly before buttoning it. “Well, good luck on the hunt, Tugger. You’ll find something, I’m sure.” He managed to feign the confidence he didn't feel in that statement.

Tugger nodded, though he didn't sound wholly convinced, "Thanks 'Straps." a pause, "You're heading to work then?"

"Yeah, I need to be at the bus stop in about..." He checked his pocket watch, "ten minutes. So ideally in five."

"Yeah, right, of course." Tugger nodded again, "D'you know what time the next one goes? I need to finish up here before I can head downtown."

"I think they leave every hour on the hour until nine." The tabby answered as he headed for the door. "You could always ring that friend of yours, Jerrie, for a ride. Doesn't he have that old truck?"

"Hadn't thought of that," Tugger admitted, "but I guess it saves the busfare. I'll see you tonight then."

"Yeah see you tonight. Good luck." He pulled on his overcoat and hat, picking up his briefcase. One last glance around the front roomt o make sure he hadn't forgotten anything and Munkustrap headed off for another delightful day of getting criminals off for crimes he knew they'd committed. Cat he hated his job.

"Yeah, bye Munk."
Tugger gazed around the now-empty kitchen for a moment, then looked back at the two greasy slices of fried bread on the plate before him, somehow he'd lost his appetite now.
Eventually, Tugger forced himself to bolt his breakfast, washing it down with the last of the coffee, before traipsing upstairs to comb his mane and headfur.
When he came down, looking better groomed and with shirt and vest fianlly buttoned, he contemplated Munkustrap's suggestion of telephoning Jerrie, but the sound of snores from Deuteronomy's room, where the phone line was located, put him off.
Eventually, Tugger threw on his jacket and left the house, deciding just to walk the few blocks to Jerrie's and hope his friend hadn't left home already.
