Tugger still couldn't believe he was doing this as he stepped through the doors of the police station. However, he had his reasons; he was still smarting from a run in with his father when he'd finally arrived home two nights before, drink having done nothing in either cat's favour. Unfortunately Tugger had been the worse for drink and his father much more practiced in landing a hit whist entirely not sober. Tugger had spent the following day nursing a black eye as well as various other aches and pains alongside his hangover.
The eye was still very much in evidence today, and Tugger was uneasy about the looks it was already getting him, but it had been this or stay at home until it was gone, which wasn't really an option. Better he did this now whilst he still had the fire to do so. It had been the same old story with his father, that Tugger was worthless and would amount to nothing, with Macavity's words still echoing in his head as well, Tugger had been all but ready to believe it. But his conversation with Sonya had kept coming back to haunt him, and so, eventually, Tugger had made up his mind.
He would show his father, he would show Macavity even too, perhaps, that he could be worth something, someone just had to give him that opportunity. So it was time to see if the Commissioner would do just that.
Tugger stated what he wanted at the front desk, and, after a short wait, just long enough for him to grow nervous, found himself being shown to the Commissioner's office.

Sonya glanced up, his first cup of coffee halfway to his mouth. "Come in," he called out, running a paw across his headfur and attempting to quickly gather up the papers on his desk into some semblance of order.

Tugger glanced sideways, only to discover the cat who had shown him to the office had left after knocking. Shrugging a little he opened the door and stepped inside.

Sonya blinked and looked him over, nothing especially the black eye. "Well, I am not entirely sure I should say you look better, but it is good to see you sober."

Tugger gave Sonya a rueful grin, "Yeah, well, least I know ain't gonna' have a desire t'drink for a long time."

Sonya spared a glance for the door and back to the tom in front of him. "Rather. And probably for the best."

Catching the other tom's gaze, Tugger leant back against the door, closing it securely behind himself.
"Prob'ly," he agreed, "yeah." He shifted on his feet a little, before coming over to the desk, "Thank you f'that. I figure I owe y'for it."

Sonya lifted one shoulder and let it fall. "Perhaps. But I have much larger crimes to be worrying about honestly." He paused for a long moment. "Did you come for something or just to say thank you?"

Tugger's ears flicked, betraying his unease. "Well I did want t'thank you. But there was kinda' somethin' else." he admitted

"Alright," Sonya said, and gestured to the chair in front of him if Tugger wanted it. It had, thankfully, been clear of papers for a while. "I would love to hear it."

Tugger took the offered seat, tail swinging into his lap as he unconsciously fiddled with the tip of it. "Well, were y'bein' serious when y'were talking about me mebbe, mebbe trainin' t'be a cop? I get if if y'wern't" he added hastily, needing to cover himself for a 'no', "y'know if y'were jus' sayin' it as an example or t'be friendly."

For a moment Sonya considered the other and he nodded. "Well, I was certainly not lying about our need for police officers, and if you pass the basic qualifications then yes, I was being serious. "Just to be clear," he said after a pause, "I am not actually offering you a job. You will have to earn it."

Tugger nodded, "I get that part." there was a long pause as he considered the option again, "What would I hafta' do?"

Sonya sighed, pushing back slightly. "We do have a training program, before we let you out in the street, naturally, and all other information should be found there."

Another nod, "I think I'd be worried if y'let cats out on the street with no trainin'." Tugger admitted, "How would I go about applyin' f'this program, or seein' if I got the," he swallowed slightly, "qualifications an' what have you?"
