"You're direct, I like that." Griz leaned further against the bar. "I used to keep it a secret, but I suppose it's less important now..." the hurt she'd seen on his face made everything less important. "I've grown rather estranged from my family. My son hates me, I think." Since she'd left, every time she'd seen him from a distance, she'd seen him as a kit, then a young-cat, then a tom that had fully grown into himself. Seeing him, she always thought she'd see the powerful tom...but instead she's seen the kit she left behind.

Arching her brow somewhat more, Clara rolled her drink in her glass rather than taking a sip. "Less important now?" she inquired, still curious. "What did you do to them to make it so then?"

Griz smiled. "Oh, it's the usual story with two sides and all sorts of icky corners. Why bore you with the details, darling?"

Clara shrugged one shoulder elegantly. "I have nothing else better to do I suppose, but you're probably right. Who needs a story with all the dark corners to see the light of..." she looked around. "Well, not day so much, but light?"

"There's so much...stuff in there I'm afraid I'd burst into flames."

Blinking once, Clara had to stiffle a laugh at that. "That bad, huh? Well, most attics are rather cluttered, and the more you live... though sometimes it takes such a sort while."

"It's a side effect of living." Griz shifted, tail wrapping around her dress. "I don't care if that means it's so dirty no cat else wants it - at least it's mine.

There was a moment when Clara didn't really respond, looking back down at her drink. "I suppose that is rather true. And in this world sometimes that's really all we can say is ours, so perhaps that makes it something more worthwhile."

Griz smiled at the other queen's words, a certain calm descending over her. "Truly spoken," she commented gently.

Looking down again, Clara sighed softly. It really wasn't an issue she wanted to address at any given time, especially when just coming in for a drink. "Well, if nothing else," she said after a pause. "I hope whatever issue you have works out."

Griz took the hint and purred lightly. "Well, if you have any problems, feel free to ask myself or Jason - the big tom over there." She inclined her head slightly before turning to leave, winking. "Your first drink is on the house."

Clara glanced over the tom indicated, before back to the older queen, smiling faintly and lifting her drink in a salute. "Thankee," she said, smile a bit wry.

Griz inclined her head again, and went back to her office.

Clara watched her go, and finishing her drink rose to leave. The night had been interesting after all, but if she got the first drink free she had no real motivation to spend money on the second.
