Coricopat took a deep breath, reminding himself that his claws weren't actually sharp enough to rend Smith's jugular at the moment. "I haven't seen him for over a week outside of work and the hospital, Smith. He's an employee of the hotel."

Martin arched a brow and inclined his head. "Certainly. But depending on how you define work, you might have to warn me which storage cupboards to avoid."

Mac had been much more annoyed at Smith anyway. "Smith, go... make a bell boy cry of somethin'. Cor, I want you in my office now," he snapped out, turning on his heel and making his way upstairs.

"Somewhat," Mac said. "He was found beaten and taken to the hospital yeah? Cohen called me ta let me know he was goin' ta be fine. You stop by?"

Cori nodded. "On my way to the courthouse and then again once I was off work. He told me Jones had stopped by to gloat, since it had been his thugs who'd done it."

Mac blinked and swore slightly. "Of course the arrogant bastard would gloat. You know anythin' about that night then? How he 'ot in that sort of situation?"

"I..." He hesitated before replying clinically, he'd really rather not think about that night at all. "He showed up drunk. In my room. We had another fight and he left."

"He... what?" Mac blinked at him. "No, wait, what? So, he was drunk and you fought with him, and you let him leave in that sort of state?"
