She shrugged a little at that, they both knew why she'd been so concerned about checking with him, without her needing to bring it up again. "No problem. He suggested goin' between a split shift, but I don't get them that often, I said t'him an evenin' might be okay, as long as you were happy about it."

Jerrie nodded, shrugging slightly. "Yeah, sounds good. Just let me know when."

Teazer nodded, "I will do."
She didn't feel as elated as she might have done though, Jerrie's response felt surprisingly indifferent, and after being used to years of him looking out for her to the point of overprotectiveness, that felt a little cold. Perhaps he honestly didn't mind because she was in safe company, or perhaps, after all of her sneaking around behind his back, he didn't care.
She shook the thought quickly out of her head, though, getting up quickly, "Y'want me t'start dinner?"

It wasn't that he didn't care, it was more that he was just processing it. He'd thought he'd already given her his blessing as regarded the Police Commissioner, and her coming to him felt like she didn't trust his word. "Yeah, dinner sounds good."

He had already given her his blessing, it was true, but that had been prior to finding out about her trips to The Coral, since then, it wasn't about her not trusting him, but just trying to make sure she wasn't keeping any more secrets. If anything she was trying to trust him more by sharing this with him, rather than going about it behind his back on the assumption he would dissaprove.
As it was, she just nodded, heading for the kitchen, "Alright, think I need t'use up that chicken t'night."

"Fair enough." He turned his attention back to the carving in his paw.
