Misto tensed even further, trying not to let it show. "I'm sure I can oblige on somecat to lend me one," he replied. "After all, what else would friends be for, if not helping each other?"

Cori looked him right in the eye. "Stepping stones." Came the icy response.

His stomach shrinking back again, Misto could feel his tail swish again. "Oh, right, I forgot you don't actually have any."

Munkustrap gaped at the small black cat. Oh dear, this was going from bad to worse, but why the hell was it doing so?
Coricopat's ears actually laced at that. "At least I'm not constantly seeking a new place of residence and panhandling off so-called friends."

Misto could feel his tail twitch again and curl slightly, though he shifted his leg, willing the tail to not curl around his leg. He almost missed the way Coricopat's ears flickered back, he was so absorbed with his own bodies reactions. "It would hardly matter to you, now would it? And at least I have cats to support me when I need it. All you have is your employer and your employees to take advantage of."

Cori bit back a growl at that. "Oh, I do that so very rarely, usually they're intelligent enough to realize that that's what I'm doing."

Misto finally gave up the battle as his tail wrapped around his leg, his ears flickering slightly and he hated, hated, how obvious it was. "I would hardly take pride in the fact that I could abuse cat's trust," he replied, but a good deal of the venom had slipped from his voice and he hated that almost most of all.

"And I'd hardly take pride in the fact that I give them that trust to abuse." Came the sharp retort.
Wait...given and abused trust? What on earth? Munkus glanced from one to the other. Strange.

Misto's ear flickered back but he managed not to wince. "You know, somehow I doubt that's every going to be a problem for me again. For you though?" He shook his head.

Cori drew himself up, "Be that as it may, I know my weaknesses, you apparently have no knowledge of yours."

"Oh," Misto said, voice dropping again. "I would hardly worry about that anymore. Half inclined to thank you for pointing them all out so definitively, except I'm not sure you deserve even that."

Cori smiled thinly at that. "Oh, I would hardly call those all of your weaknesses, nor all of your shortcomings. If you like I could be more thorough."

"I hardly meant today," Misto replied and almost blanched when he realized his voice was starting to sound an awful lot like his uncle's.

"Nor did I." Came the almost even reply.

Misto couldn't help but flinch back at that, though he tried to make it as small as possible. He opened his mouth to retort and found absolutely nothing to say.
