"Y' welcome, but I doubt it's true that it is th' only place." Jer spoke, hoping he sounded more reassuring than he felt.

Misto let out a harsh laugh. He quickly curbed it.

"Careful, that sounds like bitterness." Munkustrap spoke softly from the doorway to the front room, glass of water in hand which he set down on the end table for the black cat.

Misto started when he saw the other cat. He thought he recognized him, both from seeing him around Main Street, and also because he was fairly sure the other was Tugger's brother. The motion though, setting the glass down looked all too familiar, and he considered how many times he had done it the last few days for Corciopat--oh god Coricopat. He shuddered and raised the glass of water to try and hide the motion. "Thank you," he said to the black and silver tabby, though honestly he was just as inclined to hiss at him. Bitter? Really?

"Mhm." He turned to look at Jerrie. "Stop by my office tomorrow afternoon, we can continue our conversation there."
"I'm...at the house all day and it's quite the trip to your office."
Munkus looked unimpressed. "Fine. I'll be by tomorrow evening after work."
"Alright, I'll see ya then."
The silver tabby left.
((exit Munkustrap))

Misto drank the water slowly, watching the exchange between the two. "Do you work together?" he asked, hoping to keep the subject away from him for long enough to re-gather his thoughts.

Jerrie hesitated for a long moment. "Yes."

"Where's his office?" he asked, honestly not meaning to pry, but just because he was trying so hard to distract himself.

"Main street, he's a defense attorney." Jerrie replied as he withdrew a carving from his pocket.

Misto nearly choked. His brilliant plan about not thinking of Coricopat had just back fired splendidly. "Ah," he said, carefully setting the glass down before he dropped it.

The torbie glanced up at that. "You alright?"

Misto shot him a disbelieving look. "Fine," he drawled. He looked at the wall. "I mean, besides being kicked out. again?"

"Oh, that bit," Misto said, voice strangely pitched. He drew his legs up and his paws went to his tie, twisting it before he realized that he was wearing the blue one. He still had Coricopat's tie on.
His paw shook for a moment and he very slowly undid the tie, pulling it off.

Jerrie watched his friend very carefully. "Misto?"
