"Born in Chicago, grew up there. Hmmm, let me see now... New York, London, Paris, Bordeaux, Nimes, then Geneva, Strassburg, and Frankfurt, Brussels, Amsterdam... After that ridiculous tour of Europe, we came back to the States, settled in Rhode Island. Went back to Chicago for a while, then headed to New York again. After the last job there, we wanted to try New England again for old times' sake."

He got another nod from Philip, who made a couple more notations. He glanced up at the other. "You keep mentioning a 'we'?" he said, a brow arched. "Care to expand on that at all?"

"That would be me and my brother, Frederick. Though for a while now, it's been us and our niece, Maggie. She's been with us since she finished school, learning our trade and such."

Another nod as Philip continued to scribble down useless notes. "Good. And are they working at the kitchen too now then?"

"They should be here within the next three days, I'll be taking a lunch break to help move in with what little we actually have right now. We've got a place out in the suburbs, nice little brownstone with a garden. Landlady seems to be a decent sort, bit of a gossip but little enough harm in that."

Philip half grinned at the comment about gossip. "Oh? Should I stop by and interview her sometime?" he joked.

"If you're that desperate for a story, be my guest." Ox smiled snidely at the reporter. "It definitely explains somewhat why you're interviewing me. I'm just a humble cook, trying to make a living." His slightly feral grin said otherwise.

Philip quirked a brow, and grinned. "Ah, yes, a humble cook working at one of the highest class restaurants in town. Very humble job, this one. What made you take it? Anything in particular?"

The enormous cat shrugged nonchalantly. "Just happened to be the first place I looked. Luck of the draw, so to speak. I thought I'd try downtown and saw the 'cook wanted' sign for the restaurant."

Philip blinked, and blinked again. "Wait, there was a help wanted sign at the Demoniaque?" he absorbed that thought. "What do you think of the boss then?" he asked, not able to resist the more social aspect of the interview, though he was sure Clark would roll his eyes over it. The tom just had no nose for a social story, concerned only with the dishes the cats were eating.

Ox scratched his chin, thinking. "The Boss is the Boss, haven't actually had that much contact with the tom. He's a busy man, and he left me to do my job so I leave him to do his. Though, from what I've seen, he seems a decent fellow, if a bit eccentric."

"Really?" Philip said, glancing up and crossing his legs.

Ox huffed moodily. "Yes, really. I'm a relatively good judge of character. The cat just really likes his cucumber sandwiches. No crusts and everything." ((I was tempted to mention the milkshakes, but that would have been undignified wouldn't it? ))

((Pfffft, maybe a little?))
Philip blinked at that, blinked again, and then cracked up. "Seriously? Cucumber sandwiches, huh? But a decent boss?"

Ox almost immediately lost his sulk, grinning wickedly. "Yep, cucumber sandwiches. I was startled myself but, hey, he's the Boss. I call him a decent one, having had a large variety of employers over last twenty odd years. He's also given jobs to my brother and my niece, so they'll be working here soon as well."
