"Good to know." He looked the other over. "You really should get to bed."

"Alright," Misto said softly, not actually much looking forward to it. "You'll be alright then?"

"I'm fine. Get some rest."

"Good night then," Misto murmured, lingering at the door for another moment.

"Goodnight." He spoke with some finality as he turned his attention to the food the other cat had brought.

Misto bit the inside of his lip and slipped out, going to the bedroom next to Coricopat's, sliding into bed and curling on one side, staring at the wall.

Coricopat settled in and fell asleep a short while later.
((Day 34))
Cori blinked himself awake and glanced at the clock. Still early enough. He listened carefully, it didn't sound like Mistoffelees was up yet. He sat up, glancing at his wardrobe and muttering under his breath when he remembered that the only suits here were his nicest ones. Well, that couldn't be helped he supposed. He swung his legs over the side of the bed, reaching down and picking up the walking stick from underneath the bedskirt. He limped over to the closet, withdrawing the suit he'd found the day before, carefully starting to get dressed.

Misto rolled over. He barely slept again that night, still having nightmares about coming home to find blood scattered over the hallway and... he shut the thought down, not wanting to look at it while he was awake. His ears twitched at a sound coming from Cori's bedroom.

Steadying himself for a moment, the lawyer moved softly, gingerly, over to the dresser, checking to see if he at least had colored ties rather than the black ones he reserved for funerals.

Misto sat up, his ears still twitching. He realized that he had fallen asleep in the clothes he had come home in and winced a little. Gingerly he got out of bed and padded down the hallway.

"Ah." The mottled tom withdrew the red tie that he'd stashed at the back of his top drawer, looking at it he grimaced. Slightly off-red toward orange would be a better description. It must have been a gift. He leaned the cane against the dresser, placing his weight on his right leg as he looped the tie around his neck.

"What are you doing?" Misto asked from the doorway, voice tight with surprise.

Coricopat startled, turning, his paw on the dresser, the tie still hanging loosely around his shoulders. "I have work to do."

Misto blinked at him, his paws trying to smooth down his rumpled clothes a little when he realized Coricopat was looking at him. "Maybe, but I know what your wounds looks like, and you are not ready for whatever you think you're doing."

"I'll be sitting at a desk and doing paperwork all day. I would hardly call that exertion."
