Tugger felt himself invountarily tense a little, "Like what?"

Munkus shrugged. "It was a broad question that you can answer however."

"Then I dunno how to answer it." Tugger admitted, though there was a little frustration in his tone. "Y'got something you wanna ask, come out an' say it."

Munkus glanced toward his younger brother, considering and then speaking very softly. "Mac mentioned Dad finally got you in his sights..."

Almost right away Tugger wished he'd not invited that question, his ears flattened and he drew his knees up to his chest. "Yeah well, guess we all got our share of him in the end." he said finally, the words full of bitterness. "Learnt t'avoid him eventually, and t'see the nurse at school if I needed patchin' up when Mac couldn't. Only ended up in hospital once." he was trying to brush it off, to make it seem less horrendous for himself.

Munkustrap paled at that. "The hospital?" Cat, he was sure nothing their father had done had put him in that state, and he was pretty sure the same could be said of Mac, but then again he wasn't certain of that.

"Mmm. Just a few stitches." Tugger's reply was closed, Munkustrap would have to work hard if he wanted anything else out of his brother. Tug was thinking he had seen times as a kitten where perhaps one of other of his brothers probably ought to have been treated in hospital, difference was, there had been no one to take them.

Munkustrap considered pursuing that, but fell silent, his gaze moving to the pages of his book.

Tugger was silent too, sitting there, arms still wrapped around his knees.

The silence grew borderline oppressive, but Munkus wasn't sure how to break it and so settled for continuing his reading.

There was suddenly the sound of a door slamming downstairs. Tugger flinched quite visibly, though he stayed where he was, ears laying back on his head. Just for a second, his eyes ficked to the dresser, but he knew it was unessecary, Deuteronomy never useually came upstairs to do anything other than use the bathroom. Tug knew it was just the conversation with Munkustrap that had made him uneasy. Memories he didn't really want to recall still lingering in his mind.

Munkustrap startled at the noise, his gaze snapping up toward the door. Cat, he'd forgotten how much different the adrenaline rush of knowing his father was home was from anything else. He glanced toward his brother but attempted to return to his book.

Tugger stayed where he was for a long moment, ears cocked towards the door. But after a time, he relaxed a little, satisfied his father was staying downstairs.
After a while, he shifted, relaxing back on the bed like he had been before. Though he was still a little tense, tail tip twitching.

Munkus glanced at him, having been reading the same line of text over and over for the last few minutes since his mind couldn't seem to process it.

Tugger caught his brother's gaze, and he sat up again, pulling one knee back up to his chest as he turned to face Munkustrap. "I guess bein' back here must take some gettin' used to?"
