"Mac?" She quipped gently, glancing at him with some confusion. She was, afterall, relatively new in town, and with only 3 months under her belt and nought but job-by-job contact with anyone but her foul employer, she knew no one; or more accurately, no one else's business.

"My brother," Tugger explained, "well, one of them. Like I said, he's the reason I'm here."

"Ah," The scarlet queen nodded slightly in understanding, her tail flicking absentmindedly behind her, "Well...I can't say I know anyone here to be honest. One of the horrors of having been here only 3 months..." She smiled gently, trying to make some light of the awkwardness between them.

"I've lived in this town all my life," Tugger shook his head, "but aside from the two I'm related to, can't say I know anyone here either."

Bombalurina smiled hopefully at that, a little comforted even old residents had few friends among the elite. "I...don't do well this sort of crowd," She shook her head fur lightly, glancing toward said partiers, "They just seem so much like they're from a different world...in a different league."

Tugger snorted at that, "You're tellin' me. What're y'even supposed t'do all night at an event like this, it's beyond me."

"Put up a good front it seems," She stared pointedly at a gathering of socialites and businessman across from them, laughing with their loud, obnoxious hooting like a demented owl grasping at the ends of a branch. "I sometimes wonder how many of them go home at night to an empty house and drink themselves into a stupour." She murmurred, gaze following the glinting of expensive jewellry and pocket watches in the light, offset by the gold adornments of the room."

Tugger felt a shiver run through his body at those words, tail curling somewhat. "Mmm." was all he could manage by way of reply, suddenly wondering about excusing himself.

((Oh, bloody hell. I forgot momentarily about Tugger's wealth of experience on the topic...Sorry Ama))
Bombalurina glanced at him with some concern, noting the look that passed over his handsome features at that. "You 'right?"

"I'm fine." Tugger's reply was quick and closed. His eyes roved the room again rather than look in her direction.

Bombalurina fell awkwardly quiet at that, somehow sensing she'd already stepped a paw wrong with the first cat who had bothered to talk to her all evening. Feeling somewhat idiotic on the whole mess she'd managed to create in about 2.5 seconds of social interaction - A new Personal Best, for sure! - she slouched very gently, stepping back on her foot subtly to allow him some space, and a few moments to gather her thoughts. Hesistant on the entire encounter with the tom, she allowed her claws to tangle within themselves lightly, fiddling with each individual onyx crescent of Keratin with somewhat of a withdrawn expression.

Tugger twisted a stand of hair from his mane between two digits, internally pulling himself together. Finally, he shifted again turning back to look at Bombalurina. "So," he hazarded, deciding a complete change of subject would by far be the easiest option "you gonna' be busy taking photos later on?"

Bombarlurina glanced up at him in some mute sense of surprise, her large green eyes roving his expression for a moment, before the edges of her lips quirked into a half-hearted smile. "To be honest...I don't think I was even intended to take photos..." She thought briefly of her boss, her temper internally flaring slightly at the gutter-crawling P.I, and shurgged her shoulders dismissively, "I know I sound like such a downer but...I was hoping to get out of here. The city's so much more beautiful at night to take photos of; more beautiful then all this crystal and glitz and what-not." She waved a paw gently around, holding back a gentle scoff at the showmanship the guests, more so then the hotel, seemed to display.

"Wasn't plannin' on stickin' around too long myself," Tugger admitted, "though I can't leave jus' yet."

"Why? You waitin' for somecat?" Her ears flickered in interest, green eyes returning to hold his gaze.
