"I've done so on a couple of occasions," Tantomile chose to downplay the amount of time she spent here, "the food's very good as it happens. So," she added focusing her attention propely on Charles, "Tell me a little more about yourself these days."

He shrugged "Not much to tell really. As I said I'm looking at possible promotion shortly, living in a rather comfortable house out on eighth and making an honest living."

Tantomile felt her tail twitch slightly at the mention of an 'honest' living, since hers could not always be considered that. However, she kept her expression impassive. "I'll just have to dig at you for more details when we go for coffee," she joked, reaching the bar and asking for a list of what they were serving that evening.

He chuckled at that. "What about you?"

"Well," she smiled, "I finally made it to studying, spent a number of years out of the state before eventually coming back to work in the city."

"Thank you, it's nice to know not everyone shares my parents' view. I had to fight to get there." Another cursory glance in Coricopat's direction.

Momentary confusion passed over Charles' features again, but he figured it was best not to pursue that. "You've always been able to do what you put your mind to."

"Thank you." Tantomile clocked his expression, of course, but chose not to comment on it. "I did relish it once I finally got there, so it was worth the fight."

"Good to hear, and they can hardly protest it now, considering the position you hold?" The question was tentative.

Tantomile gave a small nod, though her expression was a little cold as she spoke, "The doctorate helped to some degree. But my father still thinks it was a waste of time, and will insist on asking when I intend on when intend of leaving all the 'silliness' behind and settling down, my mother is more accepting, but it doesn't prevent her from asking repeatedly why I'm not married by now." she didn't sound so much bitter as exasperated.

He rolled his eyes a bit at that. "If it's any consolation it's not just queens who get asked that. But, regardless, it is a shame since you're obviously self-supporting that they still ask. On the other paw, it isn't that long since the vote was gained either I suppose." Alright, now he was chattering and he knew it.

"I'm satisfied with where I am," she told him firmly, "really. Though I see no reason to stop pushing to get further. But my parents appear to have difficulty accepting that what they always wanted for me isn't what I want for me."

One eyebrow rose, he didn't recall saying anything to imply she wasn't. "I would hazard that that is a general parental tendency."

Meanwhile, Mistoffeeles had been leaning against the wall, keeping an eye on the door and the other guests. "Well," he said after a while. "I'm getting a little thirsty." He paused. "You're welcome to come with me?"
