"I think I'd've noticed before now if you did." Tugger agreed, "Can you show me somethin'?"

Misto laughed softly at that. "Well, and the teachers would disprove mightily of card tricks in the middle of class. Probably take me to task about gambling or something." He paused for a moment, considering the request before giving the deck another shuffle. "Anything you'd like to see?"

Tugger laughed at that, "I doubt it, seems like they think you're all kinds of perfect." he thought for a moment, "Not really, just curious t'see what you can do."

Misto smiled at that, and gave the deck another couple shuffles before doing a couple simpler card tricks.

Tugger grinned, settling back to properly watch what Mistoffelees was doing, esaily fascinated as he focused on Misto's paws, trying to work out how the other was doing the tricks. "You're damn good," he said after a while, "who did you say taught you?"

Misto hadn't in fact mentioned who taught him. "Just someone my uncle employees," Misto said after a moment. He didn't really feel much like adding that it was a cat employed in Jones' illegal gambling den in the Palace. If the other didn't already know that particular set of rumors about Jones, he was not going to bring it up.

Luckily for Misto, Tugger accepted this rather than questioning it. "Fair enough, y'should get him t'teach you some more stuff, y'could make a bit of money with it or somethin'." a pause, "Though I guess it ain't like y'need it."

"Still, considering how much my uncle dislikes me, it wouldn't be a bad thing," Misto said, though he was mostly looking at the cards rather than Tugger when he said that. "Thanks, by the way."

Tugger shrugged, "Jus' a thought anyhow." he started swinging his tail, getting somewhat fidgity with sitting in one place for so long.

"It's probably a good one," Misto said, considering it. "And might be an excuse to stay out of the house, or at least a reason to stay out of the house." He glanced over at the other out of the corner of his eye.

Tugger nodded, "I can understand that, I try and keep outta' the house too when my father's around. Especially if Mac ain't there."

Misto nodded. "Yeah. Well, someday, we'll both be able to move out and not have to worry about it," he said, almost sounding more like he was hoping that would happen than he sounded sure of it.

"Yeah," Tugger agreed, though his tone was considerably more cynical, "one day."

"Having something to look forward to is hardly a bad thing," Misto said softly, glancing at the pocket watch he kept with him.

"Yeah, if it's got any chance of ever really happenin'."
