Tugger nodded, "Thanks Mac. Guess I can't do much more anyway. S'my own fault."

Mac opened his mouth and shut it, turning back to his soup. There really wasn't much he could say to something like that.

Tugger filled his spoon before letting the soup fall back into the bowl. He didn't have much appetite right now. He glanced across at his brother, feeling guilty for not wanting it, he knew better than to waste food in this house. He loaded the spoon again and forced himself to bring it to his mouth and swallow.
At least it tasted good, nothing fancy perhaps, but Macavity's cooking was more than passable. It was warm too, rather comforting in it's way, especially with the rain still splattering on the windows, and Tugger found himself swallowing another spoonful before he really registered doing so. He must have been more hungry than he realised.

Mac watched him from under his brows, his own head lowered over his own soup. He smiled faintly when the other actually began eating.

Tugger's ears pricked up a little as he ate, and he relaxed a little. He'd not eaten properly that day, and hunger, albeit unnoticed, hadn't been helping his mood. Just as things often look better after a good night's sleep, the food, for now, had a similar effect.
Tugger glanced over and saw his brother's smile. "What?"

Mac shook his head, rising and putting his bowl in the sink. "Nothin'. Just glad you're eatin' at the moment." Alright, so not nothing then. He glanced at his watch. "I need ta be headin' out again soon," he muttered, not having realized how late it had gotten already.

"Well would be silly t'waste it." Tugger said shortly, too proud to admit he'd really been hungry, "Though I guess you ain't a bad cook."
His tail twitched when Macavity mentioned going out though. It meant he would spend the evening holed up in his bedroom, unless by some chance, "Can I come? I'll stay outta' your way."

Mac paused for a long, long moment, his tail nearly going on end. Sonofabitch. "I'm sorry," he said slowly, finally. "I... no."

Tugger sighed, but although he was dissapointed, he'd half expected that answer. "Had a feelin' you'd say that." he finished his soup and took the bowl to the sink, rinsing it out and setting it with the rest of the dishes waiting to be washed. "I'm gonna head upstairs, thanks f'cookin'."

Mac nodded. "Yeah, I won't be back until later tonight." His ears flickered, hating the fact he was leaving Tugger for the night, but he really needed to make this meeting.

Tugger nodded, already making for the kitchen door, "Night Mac, see y'tomorrow." He walked out of the room without another word, shoulders hunched, his footsteps shortly sounding on the stairs, before the bang of Tugger's bedroom door, not quite slammed, but closed harder than it needed to be.
((Exit Tugger))

Macavity watched him go and sighed heavily, checking to make sure the kitchen was clean before he grabbed his coat and hat, and fished his gun out of its hiding place and left, closing the door gently behind him.
