I've devoured that historical info dump thread everytime I visited the site. Something new always kept catching my eye. History is such a weakness for me (and I mean that in a good way. I like learning new things involving history (probably why I'm addicted to the History and History International channels). ::soft chuckle:: I told my grammar school teachers when I was younger that I wanted to major in history since it held such a deep fascination for me)
And I read the apps religously, always wanting to learn about the characters (especially the non-canon characters since I have a rough knowledge of the originals. Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats gives you only so much information - and even then, it's only for selected cats, that's really just better to watch the musical).
((And speaking of musicals, it's around this time that the very first filmed version of Sweeney Todd came out, 1926. Although, the story itself came out in 1846 so it is possible that our characters might have heard of it, or at least in the case of the elder members, probably read it. I will refrain from pointing out an obvious dark humor reference out of deference to that felines of this board))
And that sounds like that'd work for the maid. Of course, she'll probably startle everytime a tom speaks to her, of course, once she settles in, she'll stop being so quick to startle.
((Although, I have to wonder, does Mistoffelees ever feel like he has a conflict of interest since he runs/owns a rival establishment to his current employer?))
As for the book on Victorian manners, I figured it'd apply more to my nurse since she's on the near side of thirty five so she's bound to still display the old manners.

Yay! ((See, I love history. I'm a history major, half looking at a freaking PhD in the thing, though I'm starting to edge a bit toward something else... but I do have my BA in history at the very least.))
I am so glad that you've read both the thread and the apps. XD Sorry, it's just that in the past we've had members that have done neither so it's always a little hard to work with people who rarely check up on other characters or even the setting of the board, so I'm /really/ happy to hear you've done both. Have a gold star already. XD
And yeah, we do have quite a few OCs running around, though even some of our cannons have... somewhat different interpretations from what you generally find, though if you've come here off the ff.net account it shouldn't surprise you so much since this is where so many of those relationships were born and then moved into other fics.
((Sweeney Todd is one of the musicals I've never actually seen))
Very good on both the maid and the book on Victorian Manners. XD Sorry, I just get twichy about people lumping the past together because each era is so different while building off itself so yeah. XD
((As for Misto... He really isn't a rival to Mac at this point. Honestly, he sorta looked at all his uncle's illegal stuff and shoved it at Macavity going "here, have it" while he's setting up the Palace as a restaurant/entertainment venue. He's not employed persay by Macavity anymore, but they are working together. See, Mac and Misto either get along /really/ well (and usually to the detriment of Cori's sanity) or they bitch and squabble. I don't think these two have an in between button.))

((Ah, that makes sense in terms of Misto. It was one of the things had me curious when I was reading all the threads to keep up with the history of the board. I will give him points for being one of the more honest toms on this board)) Ironically, I think it was your fiction that had me get intrigued by the concept of Cori/Misto (normally, I'd be reading Misto/Victoria or Misto/Tugger, more so the former then the latter. However, I will concede that there's some unexplored angles with Misto/Tugger in the musical which makes the pairing somewhat feasible, like why is it that Misto can get away with calling him a bore, but still have the Tugger singing his song?) Oh, believe me, I understand completely when it comes to people not reading apps or anything related to how the game's played. I remember on the X-Men board I referenced, we actually had to create a RolePlaying school because of the younger members. (One lesson was "you have an entire keyboard at your disposal, please use it. No one wants to try and translate moon-language (ie: OMG wht r u syng)"). We actually had one character decided that she was going to do something that was not even mentioned on her application powers wise and so all the elder members had the "what the heck is this? I don't even.." expression on their faces. I know I was one of them ::chuckles:: ((Sweeney Todd is good - but I would recommend watching the Angela Lansbury one in addition to watching the Johnny Depp version. There are songs that were cut out of the Johnny Depp version that were in the one with Angela Lansbury - like Anthony and Johanna get a duet which wasn't in the Depp version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRXECtGOT3Y))Oh, I can understand the twitch. You should see me when I watch movies that are supposed to be historically based (I'm looking at you, Braveheart, and your sheer abandonment of history. The Battle of Stirling Bridge (this would be were Wallace gave his "Freedom" speech), would you fancy that, it's supposed to have a bridge, you ninny. It's not a flat piece of land. That's why the English lost that particular battle.)

((He really is honest, at least at his core. Though he's so /bloody/ blase when it comes to illegal activities... he sorta assumes people are going to be in on them, but he'd rather sit on the fringes and not deal with it.))
I think we're one of the few people to write Cori/Misto as I've not seen it before... it could have existed but I've never encountered it. It really came out of their first interaction on this board and Misto attached himself to the hip with Meadow's Cori muse and has not let go since. >.> It's like, can I ship you with other people yet? Him: No. Me: Gah! Misto/Vic and Misto/Tugger both have to be pretty specific for me to really enjoy. I do think there's a lot of potential in Misto/Tugger, though I rarely see fics that deal with it in such a way as to make it believable to me. Even though I do ship them, I can' seem to write it though. >.> If I have a Tugger muse and a Misto muse, they just end up being really, really snarky best friends. Even when I'm given a golden opportunity to ship them by casting a story they go no.
Ah yeah. XD We don't have people going off their apps /that/ badly yet, but we have had issues with the setting a lot. And sometimes getting people to pay attention to the plot.
((I might look into it? I don't know, it's a story I've never been thrilled with but I should give it a try at some point I suppose...))
Oh Braveheart. Not only did I once go near Stirling Castle ((Didn't get to stop, very sad)) but I was actually at the castle where they filmed that movie this summer. XD I've been hearing about it and yeah, it's a particularly bad one. XD

I'm going to slip into a different train of thought for a moment, but everytime I read that people (read the cops) are being sent to Felidae as "a promotion" (read punishment), I get the mental image of Felidae not being up Boston ways, but being in the heart of Baltimore. (My younger brother works as a cop down in Baltimore and the cops up here are all "Wow, Baltimore? O.o" And yes, if you've seen the show "The Wire", eh, that's as close as to real as you can get without it being a reality show.)
One of the girls at the college I went to had it (Braveheart) on the TV in the lounge and I kept snarking under my breath, finally I got up and left the area because I couldn't stand to watch it. (Hell, I heard that the movie "The Patriot" was basically the American version. Seriously, Gibson?)
((I will confess that Sweeney Todd is a bit of an acquired taste [ha!]. It really depends on which version you watch - there is a non-musical version (which, ironically was the basis of the musical) which is supposed to be good. Or, if you like hidden object games for the computer, you could always play the game. It's a bit of a fun game. Though, I can't remember if it had a copy of the story in the bonus features.))
Oh, I hear you with the "getting people to pay attention to the plot". One of the events during the early days of the X-Men RPG, a group of us had to go to Saint Louis to rescue the Professor (I have no idea why it was Saint Louis, that thread's been lost). So, here we are trying to be secretive (for the most part, good luck with that when one of the team is Magento. Yeah, Magneto teamed up with the X-Men to rescue Charles. Crack at it's ever-loving best), so another player decides, nope, I don't like this and goes and divebombs the Arch. We all were like "did you miss the memo that we were trying to not be noticed?"
