"I wouldn't waste the money, you ain't made me feel guilty enough to feel duty bound to wear it yet."

Mac's grin turned positively predatory at that. "Any suggetions on what I could do ta guilt trip you then?"

Another snort, "I hope not. I was rather enjoyin' not bein' in your bad books f'once lately."

Mac's smirk fell a little at that. "You ain't ever been in my bad books for lon'," he said. "Even when I'm bloody furious at you it's not..." This is why he had been avoiding him. He didn't want to have to say things like this.

Frowning at his brother, Tugger couldn't help it, he had to ask, "It ain't what?"

"It ain't that I'm mad for long, or that I don't want ta talk to you, or that I hate you. It's just that I want ta yell my head off at you, but even then I still..." He was not going to finish that setence. He just wasn't.

"You ain't makin' a whole lot of sense Mac." Tugger admitted, he wasn't trying to make Macavity squirm, just genuinely having trouble working out what his brother was saying, or at least what he meant by it.

Mac shrugged. "At any rate, you weren't in my bad books. Even a ridiclously expensive necktie couldn't put you there."

Tugger shook his head, "I swear I don't understand you sometimes Mac." he offered his brother a smile though, "Then again, mebbe it's better that way. Good t'know I'm free t'reject ties though, even if they're crazy expensive."

"I said that it wouldn't put you in my bad books, not that you could reject them," Mac said, letting the comment about understanding slide.

"Yeah well I've seen what happens t'cats that get in your bad books, so I hope I got a way t'go before that." It was meant as a joke, Tugger didn't know what else he could do except make light of what he'd seen, but didn't sound so much like one out loud.

Mac paused, the smirk slipping entirely. He glanced at the clock again, giving himself a moment to calm himself before saying anything. He came up with nothing. "How long until you're expected at work again?"

Tugger shifted in the seat again, suddenly feeling uncomfortable once more, though this time it was awkward for entirely different reasons.
"I guess it might be time t'be makin' a move soon." he looked down at his lap for a moment, before managing to glance across at his brother, "That was meant t'be funny, guess it came out wrong."
Tugger wasn't handling having seen the body as well as he might've done. It had been rather trumatic, despite everything else in his life, as his first experience of a corpse.

Mac swallowed, gave himself another moment and nodded. "Yeah, it came out a bit wron'. Might have been funny in other circumstances. Maybe." He shook his head. "At any rate..."

Tugger's ears lowered a bit. "Yeah, forget I said anythin'. Guess my head's still a bit scrambled about all of this." The maned tom got to his feet. "I'll get outta' your hair."
