"You're welcome."

Mac nodded, fishing around for the blanket and pillow, trying to adjust them accordingly without hurting his leg in the process, finally getting the pillow jammed behind him and the blanket mostly covering him, and his body rolled over to his side.

Doc rose again. "Try to get some sleep." He slipped into his own room.

Mac watched him. "Sleep well then," he said, already drifting off.

Cohen got ready for bed and settled in for the night, shutting his light off not too much later, drifting off and hoping he'd sleep the night through tonight.

Macavity managed to sleep maybe four hours before snapping awake abruptly, nearly standing, confused as to where he was before the pain in his leg stopped that plan short. He looked around, eyes adjusting to the dark and remembering where he was. Well, damn, if he couldn't stand, what was he going to do? He settled back down to try and consider. The thought of being left alone with his mind was not one he relished at that point, reaching around on the table, finding a lamp and turning it on, spotting a crossword book left on the table as well, though not the one Cohen had been working on earlier. Well, it would keep him distracted.

Cohen woke a couple hours after Macavity, sitting up and looking in confusion toward the light in the front room before he remembered that there was another cat there. He fumbled for his glasses, perching them on his nose and getting up, changing into some day clothes and heading into the front room.

Mac looked up when Cohen reappeared. "Good mornin'," he said, though it was still dark outside the window.

Cohen looked at the clock. "I suppose it is technically."

"Technically," Mac grinned. "You often wake up this early?"

Cohen shrugged. "Sometimes."

Mac glanced down at the book of cross words in his paws and back up at Cohen. "Sorry, this was the only thin' I could reach. I can find you a new one sometime."

"Don't worry about it. I have several."

Mac narrowed his eyes slightly but nodded. "Still, if I find one I can pick it up for you." He set it down on the end table, shifting a little uncomfortably. He hated being still, and he had been unable to get off the couch for hours.

"Fine." He glanced at the tabby. "Can I get you anything to drink?"
