Mac's own tail was swishing behind him, but he kept his eyes on his brother's though they would occasionally flicker over to the doctor before returning.

Cohen came over to stand behind Tugger, picking up a damp rag. "This may sting a bit, but I need to clean the fur back here so I can get a better look, alright?" He spoke softly, his accent thickening as he finally caught sight of the wounds. He gently placed the cloth against the wounds, cleaning the fur carefully. He'd likely have to trim some of it back to be comfortable with stitching these gouges shut.

A nod, the first real direct response Tugger had given the doctor. He gave a sharp intake of breath as the cloth touched the open wounds, dropping his tail and clenching both paws tight around the edge of the matress, it stung like hell. He sat as still as he could though, allowing Cohen to do his job.

The doctor grimaced very slightly as he cleaned the wounds. His golden gaze darted to the elder of the two brothers and then back to the wounds as he cleaned them. He drew the cloth away once the fur was cleaned and reached for a topical anesthetic. "What's your name, lad?" He asked softly as he administered the painkiller.

Back still smarting from the sting of having the wounds cleaned, Tugger barely noticed the needle going in. "Tugger Hollister." he answered quietly, glancing briefly at the doctor then back at Macavity again, seeking reassurance with his eyes.

Mac swallowed, but kept his gaze steady on Tugger, offering him a small smile.

Cohen nodded very slightly, waiting for the anesthetic to take effect before cleaning the wounds themselves. He shook his head very slightly, using his knuckle to push his glasses a bit further up his nose. There was no way this had been an accident.

Tugger relaxed slightly as the pain that had been there since the bottle first hit him strated to lessen. He let go of the matress edge and sat up a little straighter, daring a look in Cohen's direction again, wondering what the doctor would do next.

Cohen glanced up, meeting the young tom's eyes while setting the antiseptic he'd been using aside. He carefully picked up a sterile needle and thread to set to work on stitching the wounds closed. "How old are you, Tugger?" He spoke, hoping to divert the young tom's attention as he set to work stitching the wounds closed.

Tugger flinched slightly when the needle went in for the first time, it didn't hurt exactly, but it wasn't pleasant. "Fourteen." he answered when he began to get used to the feeling. This was still a very quiet Tugger, normally it wasn't hard at all to get the young tom to talk about himself.

Mac frowned slightly. Tugger usually was a lot quicker to answer questions than that but he smoothed his face out as quickly as he could, not wanting Tugger to catch the expression.

"Hm. I would have pegged you for older." Cohen replied, not quite a lie on his part, but almost. The kit had been making himself smaller since Cohen had first seen him, but nonetheless. He finished work on one of the wounds and moved to the other. "Almost done here."

Tugger didn't say anything in response to that, he didn't feel older right now, he felt like a scared kitten. He nodded when Cohen spoke again though, "Thank you, f'patchin' me up I mean."

The doctor shrugged slightly. "It's what I do." He tied off the second wound, finding some bandages to cover the wounds. He shook his head, he wished there was something more he could do.

"Still," Tugger said again,"thank you." he wriggled slightly, getting used to the feeling of the stitches, "Can I get down now?"
