Cori nodded slightly, considering what would and would not be safe topics of conversation. The "would not" list seemed to get longer by the day.

Mac slid off the stool, fishing around on the ground for his bag. "I might head ta the library to 'et some of this done. You wanna come along?" Coricopat could actually get homework done at home, but Mac usually couldn't.

Upon reaching the library, Mac claimed a table after scaring away a couple of Middle School students that had been using it to gossip and not actually work. About an hour later, he glanced up at the clock and swore slightly. He was five minutes late. Rising, he shoved everything in the bag. "See you tomorrow, Cori," he said, slinging it over his shoulder.

Mac gave him another nod before leaving the library, starting to run as soon as he got outside. Tugger usually knew to wait for him, but he hated to be late anyway.

Cori shook his head slightly, his friend was in over his head--then again he'd made it this far. He picked up his bookbag and headed toward home.
