Macavity was sprawled out over his desk, head in his folded arms over paperwork. He had claimed the night before to have too much paperwork, but it had not actually been true then. Wasn't this why he had lawyers and secretaries...?

Coricopat tapped on the door, opening it a split second later, rather surprised he'd had to knock. "Macavity?" He slipped inside, one eyebrow arching at the sight of his boss.

Mac growled, still not lifting his head. "Oh there you are. You do this."

"Do what?" The ADA resisted a sigh as he saw the stack of papers on Mac's desk. Oh, joy.

"The paperwork," Mac said, raising a paw and pointing it to the pile as he pulled himself up and leaned back against his chair. "It's why I hire you, isn't it?"

"Strange I thougt you hired me to make sure you can get away with the crimes that are cosntantly being committed." Cori replied as he picked up a couple of the papers, skimming over them. Ah, nothing too extensive for once.

Mac inclined his head. "Well, that too," he said, cheering with the prospect of fostering his work off on one of his henches. Coricopat may be his favorite hench, but he was still a hench.

"Don't we have someone who's supposed to deal with the finances?" The mottled tom frowned at the numbers in front of him.

Mac considered for a moment. "We did," he said finally. "Guess we're goin' to need ta hire a new one."

Coricopat looked at Mac, frowning. "What do you mean 'a new one'?"

Mac rolled a shoulder and glanced over at his cigarettes. He wanted one, but did not feel like dealing with Coricopat getting pissy over the issue. Maybe later. "He was caught skimmin' off the top of the records. Had ta make an example of someone."

"Seriously? You couldn't have let me know so I could find someone else to hire?" Great, so much for simple. Now he'd have to deal with this as well until they could find a replacement.

Mac shrugged again. "It was only today," he said, a bit annoyed. "Was gettin' to it. You had to deal with the other job first. Find a replacement in a couple days, should be fine."

"A couple of days." He looked singularly unimpressed by that. "Alright, well, I suppose it's best I get started on all of this then if I plan to get any sleep tonight." Apparently it was a good thing he'd skipped going to The Chrysalis this evening.

Mac arched an eyebrow at that. "Who needs sleep?" he asked, rising from behind the desk and moving over to a sideboard, looking for something he had forgotten. "Besides, after makin' him an example, should be easier to find someone more trustworthy. Cos no one would be stupid enough to do that again." Well, they would be, but hopefully not for a while.
