"Indirectly I suppose you are." He swore under his breath in Russian. "Hold still."

"Sorry," Taradan made an effort to stop fidgeting, "it feels a bit strange. I can feel it, but I can't, y'know?"

"Mhm." He finished, cutting the thread and stepping back, cleaning things up. "I'm going to reccomend a sling for a while. It is going to be painful for a while. Try to keep pressure off of it."

"Can't y'just strap it up or somethin'?" Taradan asked, "it ain't just the work I do here, I got two other jobs that I need t'be in workin' order t'do."

Doc looked at him for a long moment, readjusting his glasses. "I can, but I cannot guarantee that it will heal properly."

Taradan was silent for a moment, "What happens if it don't heal right?"

"Well, it's not in the joint so you'll still have the use of the arm, but it's a close thing. Likely contiuned pain for the rest of your life, perhaps wekaness in that arm."

"Let me put it this way. If you were a police officer I'd insist you be on desk work for the next week at least or risk being there for the rest of your carreer."

Taradan sighed heavily, "So I can ditch the sling after a week?"

"I will take a look at it in a week and let you know, but you should be able to."

Taradan nodded, "Alright, I'll wear the damn sling."
He didn't want to be out of action for that long, and he knew if his injury was as obvious as a sling he wouldn't be able to get away with pretending he was fit for work, not to mention what his mother would say if she saw it. But still, it was still better than risking being put permernantly out of action. "Don't suppose the Boss would have a 'desk job' f'me in the meantime?" he was mostly joking, but the idea of compensation was nice, if not likely.

Cohen chuckled. "You could check."

"Well, it's just the one arm, and you'll be fit enough soon."
