1. Unfortunately at this time we are unable to accommodate any other language aside from English, so we’re sorry about that. If this makes things uncomfortable for you, contact admin for help on how we can work around things.
2. Quality of posting will be important when it comes to the running of the Role Play (RP). As always, good grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, punctuation and spelling are appreciated. To help with this, please ensure you proofread your contribution before posting.
3. It is also important you stick to third person, past tense when posting (e.g. “Munkustrap sighed as he turned to greet his brother” is okay. “I sighed as I turned to greet my brother” is not.) This is a multi-character forum, and third person allows this to be possible. It’s also helpful when describing and is a lot easier to read.
4. Have patience. When someone new joins or someone inexperienced, a lot of people freak out. Just remember this, the more people you get to join your story the more fun it will be, the longer it will stay alive. Offer to help the new member, or send him/her to the Admins. We want the RP to be the best it can be. In this same vein, if someone give you a tip don’t take it personally, but see if it would help you improve.
5. Do not God-mode (making your character perfectly powerful)—all characters have flaws and none are all-powerful. Also, falling under the heading of God-moding is having another character do something--it can be as simple as saying "Sonya leaned over the body" in your post if Sonya is not your character. Do not have any other players character do and action or be in a place without them having stated it.
6. Do not use symbols to represent your action (e.g Instead of *jumps up high* or ~jumps up high~ or anything like that, you want to type out your action, Jim jumped up high)
7. The final part of the code is Cats.
8. Again, to keep the RP running smoothly, please ensure you place any Out Of Character (OOC) notes/comments/discussion within double parenthesis like this: ((Example)). This allows readers to separate it from your actual character post.
9. If there are more than two RPers in a thread, make sure that you work to make sure that the third (fourth, fifth, etc.) isn't accidentally pushed out. If one of the characters isn't working well, it's at least better to talk things through first, maybe find a way to write the character out (with the permission of that character's RPer, of course) so no one is simply left. Still, the best idea is to sit down, talk, and see if a way can be found that equally includes all of the characters.
10. When there is a three (or four, or five) way, two players cannot get ahead of the other(s). This means, maximum of two posts allowed, one per, between the third persons. The only exception to this is a direct question, in which case it would be player A posts, B asks a direction question, and A responds. Or if they have permission of the player, or if the third player has taken their character to the side of the scene.
11. When enough people are involved, role-play can take some unexpected turns. That’s part of the fun. Please don’t get upset if things aren’t going precisely as you planned. If you are unhappy about something, please discuss it in an OOC thread.
12. Please put the day in the header of your threads if you're the one starting a thread. This helps keep things organized and is a helpful tool. So, for example "Just a Nightcap ((7))" is taking place on day 7 of the board. However, please just keep it to the day, not the time of day, for example do not do ((8, late evening)). If the time of day is important, be sure to set it up in the first post of the thread.
13. In the event of sex, violence, and swearing, use moderation. Normally keeping things around a PG-13 rating would be best, though as we are dealing with gangsters and police forces as well as other sides of the underworld there are extreme situations. However, Pro-boards itself frowns on graphic details and be aware that while we are loosening restrictions on language and other things, these benefits can be taken away if abused. Having characters in sexual situations is a privilege, not a right, and there is the hosting board to think of as well.
14. Please read other players' applications as well as the General Information for Newcomers and the General Felidae information thread (Both stickied in the Information area) before posting so you better understand which characters and types are already on the board, as well as the basic setting.
